Timmie J. Harris, 72, Elwood, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.
Timmie was born Aug. 7, 1939 to Glen Harris and Lottie (Jackson) Kennedy in Elwood.
Tim and the former Joretta High were married Aug. 12, 1960 and were married for 51 years.
He retired from Ex-Cello Corporation of Elwood and was founder of Harris & Sons Electric.
Tim enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman. Every year he looked forward to going fishing and hunting with his sons and grandchildren.
Timmie is survived by his wife, Joretta and their dog, Fancy; two sons, Montie and wife, Bonnie Harris of Elwood and Danny and wife, Carolyn Harris of Elwood; a daughter, Nyla and husband, Wayne Carr of Port Charlotte, Fla.; six grandchildren, Justin Boyer, Jennifer Allen, Wendy Jordan, Anthony Harris, Tyler Harris and Jamie Harris; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Sullivan of Elwood and Elva Mae "Corkey" Crow of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Jerry Harris.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Collier officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart or Lung Association.
