Birth: 4th of eight known children in Maken, Tenmile district, Harrison county, West Virginia

Raised in the easterly "Twin House" built while he was being born across the old Northwestern Pike, now U S #50. (house owned since 1984 by Bertha Webb, guardian of nearby Point Pleasabt cemetery where his parents & paternal grandparents are buried.

Hiram W. Lynch III, 99, formerly of West Main Road, Conneaut, OH, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at The Villa At The Lake, Conneaut, OH.He was born on January 3, 1904, in Wolf Summit, WV, the son of Hiram W (sic). Jr. and Susan V. (Ritter) Lynch.A Conneaut resident since 1939, Mr. Lynch graduated from Salem High School in WV and attended Michigan State University and Syracuse University.Following World War I, he was a member of the Michigan National Guard. He was a graduate of Long School of Navigation and was a pilot for Great Lakes Marine with the U.S. Steel Fleet. He later worked as a Switchman for the former Nickle Plate Railroad and retired in 1966 as Yardmaster from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad.

Mr. Lynch was a member of First Baptist Church, the church's book club, Evergreen Lodge #222 F & AM, 32nd degree Valley of Cleveland, and Al Koran Shrine. He enjoyed traveling, photography, working in his yard, and being with his family.Survivors include his son, Hiram W. "Bill" (Marilyn) Lynch IV of Kingsville, OH; his sister, Harriet Sadler of New Castle, IN; two grandsons, Hiram W. Lynch V of Indianapolis, IN, and Edmond Ritter Lynch of Rochester, MI; and four great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn S. Lynch, in 1993; three sisters, Berda B. Butler, Anna Ilett, and Catherine Teeter; and three brothers, Edmond R., Frank C., and Allen B. Lynch.Funeral Service will be 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, December 13, 2003, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, OH, with Reverend William Hayden, interim pastor at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be Monday, December 15, 2003, in Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport, WV.Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of service on Saturday evening, December 13, 2003, at the Funeral Home
