Patricia Jordan Story, 83, of Boise, died Wednesday, March 31st at her home in Boise. Arrangements pending, Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
Published in Idaho Statesman on April 2, 2010.

Patricia Jordan Story, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away March 31, 2010, at home, in Boise, ID from colon cancer.

She was born on March 6, 1927 in Hood River, OR to Leonard Beck Jordan and Grace Edgington Jordan.

She spent her childhood in Hells Canyon, Idaho, on a sheep ranch where she and her brothers were home-schooled by their mother and loved to ride her favorite horse, Lad. In 1941, the Jordan family moved to Grangeville, ID so Pat could attend high school. She attended the University of Idaho and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Pat graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Home Economics and married the love of her life, Charles Flower Story, Jr. in 1951. Pat and Chuck were married 58 years. They returned to Boise in 1991 after living in Washington, Idaho, California, and Hawaii. Pat is survived by her loving husband, Chuck, who provided non-stop care for her during her illness; daughters Tamara (Mel) Ota; and Karen (Steve) Snow; brothers Joe (Cindy) Jordan; Steve (Colleen) Jordan; and 3 grandsons. Preceded in death by son, Jordan Charles Story. Pat was an amazing woman. She lived life to its fullest. She believed in lifelong learning and was a wonderful mentor, sharing her gifts and talents with many. She believed in "paying it forward" and "passing it on". With this in mind, Chuck and Pat established multiple scholarships for higher education. She traveled throughout the world with Chuck and had several careers including teaching, selling real estate and recently serving as Chairwoman of the Idaho State Building Commission. She enjoyed being involved in politics and often hosted local political gatherings for various candidates and representatives. Pat was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to her family and adored her children and grandchildren. She found great joy in celebrating their lives with them. Pat and Chuck enjoyed spending time in Maui, HI in the winter and in McCall, ID in the summer with their family. Her fondness for McCall dates back to the summer Shore Lodge opened and she was among its first employees. Later, she loved to ride her waverunner around Payette Lake. Pat touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. May she now rejoice in being with her family in Heaven. We know you will prepare the way, Pat, and we look forward to being with you, again.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 704 S. Latah, on April 10, 2010 at 3 pm. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.

The family would like to thank Pat's physicians: Dr. William Jonakin and Dr. Norman Zukerman and the staff of St. Luke's Hospice, for their dedicated care. Also, special thanks to Cymry, Carol, and Belinda for their loving companionship and care these last couple of weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Assistance League of Boise, the Idaho Community Foundation, or Idaho Youth Ranch.
