Willie Evelyn Harris McCoy affectionately known as Billie, was born on January 5, 1931, in York, Alabama. She was the eldest daughter of the 6 Harris siblings.

The family lived in Deovelente, Mississippi and Billie attended Belzoni Colored School. Upon graduating, in pursuit of higher goals, she attended Tougaloo College, in Tougaloo, MS. Billie relocated to Chicago, Illinois, at which time she married her husband Clarence McCoy (deceased)with whom she celebrated 43 years of marriage. From this union three children were born, Clarence Larnell (deceased), Sharon, and Reginald Winston.

Raised in a Christian family, Billie accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in Deovelente, Mississippi. Later Billie joined and became a faithful member of St.John Missionary Baptist Church, in Chicago, IL. She loved her Pastor, Dr. A Edward Davis, Jr., and her fellow members. Billie worked as a member of the Mission Board until she could no longer serve.

In 1986 Billie retired from the United States Postal Service as Personnel Supervisor, from which she had dedicated herself for over 30 years. A lover of life and of travel, there was never a trip too soon nor too far that Billie would not go, even at a moment's notice. A faithful friend and neighbor, there was nothing she would riot do to help those she loved. As one of the founders of the Morgan Street Block Club, and treasurer for many years, she was known throughout the neighborhood for her commitment to beautification. When a house went vacant, she was first in line to buy it so the block would remain peaceful. In addition to keeping the neighborhood clean, she loved her garden.

If she couldn't plant in her own yard, she would gladly plant in her neighbor's yard.

Billie truly enjoyed socializing. She was a member of many clubs and groups for over 30 years. Each and every member of The Guys and Dolls, Ike Rivers Bowling League, Dan Ryan Woods Walkers, Eight is Enough, and the Bid Whist club were all near and dear to her heart.

A very strong woman, known for her love to cook and family, Billie left a heritage to her descendants. She had a strong belief in faith and encouraged each of them to know Jesus, obtain an education, and be wise with their money. She often said to each of them, "You don't know the value of a dollar ".

Billie leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homegoing: two children: Sharon A. Miller and Reginald McCoy; one stepdaughter: Lydia (Reuben) Taylor; four grandchildren: Angela C. Riley, Tracey (Carl) Palmer, Chelsea (Krandon) Knighten, and Winston McCoy; five great-grandchildren: Khalil, Kyle, Taylor, Khari, and Carl Jr.; three sisters: Lou Mit Holland, Gloria Jean Singleton, and Juanita King; two brothers: Clarence Harris and Kevin Donaldson; one brother-in-law: Hosie (Alma) McCoy; two sisters-in-law: Bess Donaldson and Clara Donaldson; one brother-in-love: Oscar Griffin; two special cousins: Ruby Worsham and Alyce Clarke; one special friend: Ms. Irene; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
