Nobility of Burgundy. According to current studies, she was born in 1046 by Count Robert of Charolais and Langres and was given the name of Costance Bertha. In 1065 she first married Count Hugo II of Chalon, who died in the war in Spain against the Moors (108). After a short period of widowhood she married Alphonse VI king of Castile and Leon (1080) becoming Queen consort of those lands. During her reign she mainly dealt with religion, succeeding in having a strictly Roman Catholic liturgy adopted to replace the mazarabic rite.
