LEXINGTON - Duncan, Thomas D., 83, died on December, 13, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor D. Duncan and Jewel Duncan Mann and one grandson. He held bachelor's and master's degrees from UK, and began a career in print journalism at the Herald, the Leader, Associated Press and The Courier-Journal. He then became the first live correspondent from Frankfort for WAVE-TV in Louisville. He was a Director of Information Services at UK prior to assuming duties as the president of the Kentucky Coal Association. He was a veteran of the US Navy, member of the UK Alumni Association, Sigma Delta Chi Journalism and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternities. He is survived by his children, Thomas Duncan (Denise), M.D., Lexington; Ben Duncan, Park Hills, KY, Helen Duncan Gavin (Tim), Burlington, KY and Jane L. Duncan Tanner (Chuck), Louisville; and six grandchildren. Funeral: 10 a.m. Milward-Broadway with burial following at Lexington Cemetery. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Child Development Center or Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center.
