Actress. A native of Redding Ridge, Connecticut, Lange was born Hope Elise Ross Lange, on November 28, 1933. A talented actress from a young age of both stage, film, and television, she is best remembered for her roles as 'Emma' in "Bus Stop" (1956), and 'Selena Cross' in "Peyton Place" (1957), which role she earned an Oscar nomination for her performance, and the television series, "The Ghost And Mrs Muir" as 'Carolyn Muir', from 1968 to 1970, and "The New Dick Van Dyke Show" as 'Jenny Preston' from 1970 to 1974. Lange's other films include, "The Young Lions" (1958), "The Best Of Everything" (1959), "Wild In The Country" (1961), "Pocketful Of Miracles" (1961), "Love Is A Ball" (1963), "Jigsaw" (1968), "Death Wish" (1974), "The Prodigal" (1983), "A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge" (1985), "Blue Velvet" (1986), "Just Cause" (1995), and "Before He Wakes" (1998). Also appeared in several television appearances including, "The Fugitive," "Medical Story," "The Love Boat," "Matt Houston," "Hotel," "Murder She Wrote," and "Fantasy Island." Lange passed away in Santa Monica, California, on December 19, 2003, at the age of 70.
