Frederick was the fourth son and fourth child of six born to George Blenkarn and Caroline Smith. He had 4 brothers and 1 sister. He was baptized at Shoreditch Church Feb 1836 as taken from his father's Bible.

He married a London girl, Mary Ann Fanny Ingram on 10 Mar 1959. Fanny was a "Cockney," having been born "within the sound of the Bow Bells." Frederick and Mary Ann had twelve children:

Frederick George Ingram
Herbert Edward
Francis Charles "Frank"
Fanny Beatrice "Bee"
Arthur Ernest
Percy William
Sydney Edwin
Harry Cecil
George Vincent
Lina May
Edgar Russell
Leonard Alexander "Leo"

He was a chartered accountant and around the end of 1860's they moved to Liverpool, where he was with a chartered firm.

The following is taken from the obituary clipping found among the personal effects of William Thomas Blenkarn, brother to Frederick Richard:

"The Late Mr. Frederick R. Blenkarn -- But a few weeks ago in chronicling the annual meeting of the Liverpool Sunday school Union, we had to record the presentation of a handsome testimonial to Mr. F.R. Blenkarn, who for the previous thirteen years had been hon sec. The too great strain upon his health which the continued discharge of his duties involved, necessitated his retirement at that meeting from the office he had so long held, and he was then elected one of the vice-presidents. The imperfect health from which he was suffering was unconsciously, even then, deepening into dangerous disease, and, in his 46th year, he has been very suddenly removed by death. The funeral service at Anfield Cemetery, on Tuesday the 6th inst., was conducted by the Rev. J. Ogmore Davies, who in affecting terms, addressed the crowded gathering of mourners and Sunday School workers who were present. Even the scholars had assembled with others, and amidst the wreaths and bouquets of flowers that were placed upon the coffin. It was very affecting to see one little girl scholar place her little offering of snowdrops amongst the rest. [a list of notable personages in the church are listed.] The Liverpool Sunday School Union will long feel the loss of Mr. Blenkarn. During his secretariat the schools in the Union have increased in number nearly threefold, and the operations of the Union have been no less successfully and widely extended than they have been vigorously worked."

March 18, 1881 The will of Frederick, formerly of White-Rock Street but late of Fitzclarence Street both in Liverpool in the County of Lancashire, is recorded on page 64 in the records at Liverpool. The will was proved by Mary Ann Fanny. Frederick wrote several verses read at his mother Caroline Blenkarn's funeral.
