A rifle bullet, believed to have been fired at a dog passing across the back lot, at Marion, fatally wounded four-year-old Opal Doyle as she ran from the house to join her father, Charles J. Doyle, who was in the garden. The bullet passed through the child's head and imbedded itself in the side of a barn.
