Alvin Neff attended the common schools of Vanderburgh County, following which he pursued a course at the Lockyear Business College, during 1915 and 1916. During 1917 and 1918 he was employed as a bookkeeper in Evansville business houses, and in 1919 he became one of the purchasers of the Schuler Implement Company. This venture has proven a very successful one, and Mr. Neff's activities have been factors in contributing to its growth and prosperity. The officers of the company are: Frank Neff, president; Alvin Neff, vice president; Joseph Hoefling, treasurer; and Benjamin Aman, secretary. Mr. Neff belongs to the Fraternal Order of Eagles. In politics, he is a Republican, and his religious connection is with St. Boniface Church. June 2, 1921, Mr. Neff married Marie, daughter of Joseph and Mary Fischer, of Mount Vernon, Indiana."

Other Neff establishments are located at Fifteenth and Morgan and 333 South Port Avenue. Neff, who was in the house-to-house bakery business in Ohio, spent one vacation in Corpus Christi seven years ago. Upon his return to Ohio, he sold his business and began establishing his chain of drive-inns here. All Neff drive-inns specialize in frog legs, which are served in many ways. Frog legs are delivered regularly from Louisiana. Other specialties of Neff establishments include Southern Style golden fried chicken, hickory smoked barbecued ham, Virginia ham, T-bone steaks, barbecued beef and enchiladas. Neff Drive-Inns are open until 12 o'clock every night.
