George D. Dukate, 79, of Waynesburg, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011, in RespiCenter West, Waynesburg.

He was born Saturday, April 2, 1932, in New Freeport, son of the late Raymond L. and Gertrude Staggers Dukate.

Mr. Dukate was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesburg.

He was a 1950 graduate of Waynesburg High School.

Mr. Dukate was a retired Waynesburg volunteer firefighter, having been a member for 35 years. He delivered Meals on Wheels for Waynesburg Senior Citizen Center for several years.

He was a carpenter by trade and had worked for Wayne Lumber Co. in Waynesburg from 1950 to 1960. He then worked as a carpenter for Ivan Morris from 1960 to 1965 and Bob Bell from 1965 to 1982. With his son, Eric, he owned and operated Dukate Remodeling from 1982 to 2003, when he retired.

On August 31, 1951, he married Loreen Hoge, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Renee (Dr. James) Martin of Akron, Ohio, and Kim (Gene) Lee of Mt. Morris; two sons and their wives, Neil (Glenna) Dukate of Waynesburg and Eric (Cheryl) Dukate of Rogersville; six grandchildren, Ashley Barrett, Justin Martin, Mallory Martin, Brandon Dukate, Lindsay Lee and Maura Lee; a great-grandson, Lochlan Barrett; two sisters, Dolores Headlee of Gainesville, Va., and Sherry Crandall of Waynesburg; two brothers, Larry Dukate of Dayton, Ohio, and Loren H. (Red) Dukate of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 22, with the Rev. Edward Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Department will hold a visitation at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
