He served in the army during WWII. He married May Blythe on 28th September 1940 at St Botolph's church, Northfleet and named his son after the band leader Glen Miller because he and his wife had loved dancing to his music.
He died in March 2001 and was cremated, his ashes were interred in Northfleet Cemetery on 18th January 2002, plot number 143N, his grave is unmarked.
