Al Bourne died at his residence on Jan. 18, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bourne and survived by his daughter Kathleen Tatum; two grandchildren, John A. and Michael K. and wife Kristin Richardson; two great-grandchildren, Carter S. and Kyle R. Richardson; and one sister, Estell Timms. Al was born and raised in Woodbridge, was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, was the last surviving charter member of O.W.L. Volunteer Fire Department, a past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Virginia, I.O.O.F., a past Grand Patriarch of The Grand Encampment of V.A., I.O.O.F., a past Department Commander of the Patriarchs Militant of Virginia, a past Representative to the Sovereign Grand Lodge, I.O.O.F., and past President of The Odd Fellows Home of Virginia, I.O.O.F. Brother Al was a recipient of the Grand Decoration of Chivalry. He was a member of Potomac Odd Fellows Lodge, #38 and Marley Encampment #6. Al served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, where a funeral service will take place on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to, The O.W.L. Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 4207, Woodbridge, VA 22194-4207.
