Visitation for Robert G. Murphy, 37, of Bradley, will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a wake service at 4 p.m. at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Cajetans in Chicago. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park. Memorials may be made to Maternity Church Restoration Fund.
Mr. Murphy died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997 at his home. Mr. Murphy was a former bond trader on the Chicago Board of Trade. He was a member of Maternity BVM Church, the pastoral council, and was involved in church restoration.
He was born Jun. 2, 1959 in Chicago, the son of John and Helen Jean Campbell Murphy.
Surviving are his wife, the former Christina Scherer, whom he married Jun. 22, 1991 at St. Cajetans Church, Chicago; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Dr. Cecele and Mike Goldman of Vienna, Va., Janet Murphy and Gary Seals of Farmington Hills, Mich., Mary and Ali Alif of Tinley Park, and Kathy and David Barfield of England; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Suzanne Murphy of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jay and Cathy Murphy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents are deceased.
He was a graduate of Brother Rice High School, and attended Kankakee Community College and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
