Walter W. La Rue, 89, of Springfield died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Doctors Hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1899, in Van Buren, Ark., the son of the late James W. and Violet White La Rue. He married Eleanor Richensperger.

Mr. La Rue was a member of Seventh Street Assembly of God Church, past president of the Cosmopolitan Club, a 50-year member of the American Society of Bakery Engineers, and a member of the American Legion, Central Lodge 71 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of St. Louis, Mo., and Ansar Temple. He was a veteran of World War I. He was employed as superintendent of Amrhein's Bakery from 1935 until his retirement in 1967.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; one son, Warren M. La Rue of Springfield; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Cornelius La Rue of Santa Ana, Calif., Gerald La Rue of McAlester, Okla., and Raymond La Rue of Norman, Okla.; one sister, Beatrice Connor of Santa Ana, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

Services at Bisch Memorial Home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
