Military Figure. He entered the military at the age of 15, as a fifer in his father's regiment during the American Revolution. In 1790, he settled in Upstate New York, where he helped found the town of West Bloomfield. He took the first census of Western New York in 1790, served as a United States deputy marshal, served in the state assembly, and was a state senator from 1809 to 1813. He rose to the rank of Major General during the War of 1812, and was Commander In Chief of the Niagara frontier. Hall was the son of Captain Stephen Hall and Abigail Sexton. He married Phoebe Coe in 1790 and was the father of 9 children.
