Captain
Obituary, The Oklahoman, February 21, 1991:
Walter Henry Wall, 65, passed away on February 19, 1991, after a short illness. Born January 18, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and the Army, obtaining the rank of Captain. He served his country in World War II and Korea, earning several honors which include the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, World War II Victory Medal, the Air Medal, the Air Crew Insignia-3 Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal for Germany and Korea.
He was much loved and respected by many friends and family for his generosity, caring and gift of self and spirit. His list of talents and abilities were countless and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He gave of himself and loved to get involved in a project, no matter how hard or complex, he always had a perfect solution. He was our 'Papo' and our 'grandfather' and 'Walt', but mostly he was loved.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Rae Wall; his daughter, Jerre Rae Fairchild of Oklahoma City; his brother, Robert E. Wall of the Bronx, New York; his grandson, Christopher Daniel of Atlanta, Georgia; his granddaughter, Leslie Davis of Oklahoma City; his grandson, Byron Fairchild; his great granddaughter, Alexandria Davis; and numerous friends and relatives. He will be missed and he will always be loved. Memorial services will be held in the Abbey Chapel at the Rose Hill Mausoleum on February 23, 1991, at 10:00 a.m.
