He was former superintendent of Elk City and Durant Methodist districts, and had served pastorates at Altus, Frederick, Muskogee, Wynnewood, Guthrie, Duncan, El Reno, Lawton, McAlester, Hobart and Dallas. Callahan came to Oklahoma City from Walters, his last ministerial position, in 1943.
He was the son of J. Y. Callahan, US Congressman in Territorial days. His parents settled in Kingfisher in 1892 and Callahan later studied for the ministry at Kingfisher College.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs Bessie Peters Callahan, of the home; a daughter, Mrs Virginia Rea, Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Mrs A. E. Pearson, 227 NW 2; and Mrs Frank Nazworthy, Enid; three brothers, O. P. Callahan, Biltmore Hotel; A. E. Callahan, San Diego, CA; and Carl Callahan, Tulsa.
