The film which was directed by Leslie Goodwins, which was written for the screen by John Calvert, Edgar B. Anderson Jr., and Cliff Lancaster, and which also starred John Calvert, Ralph Morgan, and Ann Cornell, tells the story of John Bonar and grub-stakes Nugget Jack who has a secret gold mine. Bill Johnson is out to get the mine and he has his henchmen try to kill Bonar and Jack. They are saved by a pretty, backwoods girl, 'Rusty,' who quickly falls in love with Bonar. When Jack secretly discovers that "Rusty" is his long-lost daughter, he gives the couple his mine and goes on his lonely way. He also played the roles of a 'Rancher,' 'Poker Player,' 'First Bartender,' 'Townsman,' and 'Foster a Sharecropper,' in five episodes of the classic western television series "The Gabby Hayes Show" in 1956. These were his only television appearances. He retired from acting shortly thereafter. During his acting career, he also used the name Rex Baxter, George Morelle, and Geo. Morrell. He passed away at the Los Angeles County General Hospital in Los Angeles, California, on April 28, 1955, at the age of 84. His funeral service was held through Pierce Brothers Hollywood and he was cremated at the Chapel of the Pines in Los Angeles, California. He was married to Rosalie Reinhardt Morrell in San Joaquin, California, on March 21, 1898. The couple had no children together.
