Uncle Jim was the only son of George Franklin and Georgia Ruth Coatney Smith, out of nine children. He married AnnaBelle May on Oct 31, 1951. Father of Robert Earl Long and James Dwight Smith. He served in the Navy for 2 years, drove truck for 33 years and worked for the city of Weatherford before retiring in 1991.

He was named for both of his grandfathers, Rev James Arthur Smith and Ellis Gilbert Coatney. This picture was taken on Anna Belle and Jim's 50th wedding anniversary.

His hair was always carrot red. He died of cancer just a few weeks after being diagnosed.
