Curtis was a soprano with the Metropolitan Opera from 1912 to 1920. She debuted in Mozart's "The Magic Flute" and went on to appear in leading roles in "Faust, " "Othelo," "Cavalleria Rusticana" and also appeared in the premiere of Walter Damrosch's "Cyrano de Bergerac."
