Death of General John Love.
Gen. John Love died suddenly at his home in Indianapolis, Saturday night, of heart disease. He was born in Culpepper Co. Va., Jan. 9th, 1820. He was in the Mexican war and served in the war of the rebellion. At the time of his death, Gen. Love was a member of the State House Commission, having been appointed by Gov. Williams. He was married to Miss Mary F., daughter of Hon. Oliver H. Smith, one of the State’s most distinguished citizens, October 10, 1849. Mrs. Love is still living. Both have been members of Christ Church, Gen. Love being a vestryman; the Gen. was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity, having been master of Ancient Landmarks lodge of Indianapolis for several years after its organization. He was also a charter member of the Scottish Rite. Gen. Love was a life-long and consistent Democrat.
