Mary and Frank moved from Center to California during the Depression, where Frank eventually got a job with the railroad and settled at Turlock. Their home had a swimming pool which was very uncommon for the time. Being recently from Oklahoma and having no need for a swimming pool, the Townsleys hired a man to haul in dirt and had the pool filled in.
Sometime later, Mary and Frank moved back to Ada. Here, they were members of the local Free Will Baptist Church. In 1977, they moved to Oklahoma City to be close to their daughters Georgia and Betty. After Mary's death, Frank went to live with his daughter Juanita in Norwalk, California.
