Augusta's parents are George and Catharine Hodges. Catharine died when Augusta was four years old, and it seems that Augusta was adopted by her Aunt and Uncle, John and Cassandara Baxter. Augusta used the last name of Baxter. Her marriage license was for "Augusta Hodges Baxter" and in the 1880 US Census, she is living as Augusta Baxter, sister to Haris Baxter (who is her first cousin by birth).

"SWETLAND-ANGUS. Mrs. James Angus, who was recently a guest at the home of Miss Kate Winne, 601 E. Chestnut street, and Mr. Harry C. Swetland of Ashland, were united in marriage Wednesday morning at 5432 Ellis avenue, Chicago, Ill., the home of the bride. After a wedding trip on the lakes Mr. and Mrs. Swetland will reside in Ashland, where they will be at home after Sept. 15. Mr. Swetland resided in Mt. Vernon until recently, where he removed to Ashland in order to give his entire time to his banking interests there. His bride, whose maiden name was Augusta Baxter, formerly lived in southern Knox county." - From a Knox County, Ohio Newspaper.
