"Uncle Charles was born in Florida but lived in several states, Florida, Nebraska, Missouri as his dad's business involved much travel. His mother died in the great flu epidemic when Charles was only 11 months old. Then his father, Charles, Sr. died when he was about 10 years old. Subsequently Charles was raised by his Uncle Charles "Dick" Abbott, brother of his mother, and his grandmother Hannah Mariah Focht Abbot in the Lima, Ohio area.

Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army in early 1942, a few months after his grandmother's death and served the remainder of WWII. He achieved the rank of Tech 5 equal to and addressed as Corporal. After the war he married Emma Ruth McCloy of Perry County.

---- Raymond "McCloy" Miller, nephew

Note: His mother's headstone is dated incorrectly 17 Feb 1919 as is noted on her FAG memorial. Charles was not born until 9 Mar 1919; his mom could not have died 3 weeks prior to his birth.
