SUDDEN DEATH
Wm. H. Pockmire Died at his home last night
Last night about 10 o'clock William H. Pockmire one of our old citizens, died very suddenly at his home on South Main street, of apoplexy of the heart and congestion of the lungs. Mr. Pockmeyer (sic) had not been feeling well Saturday, but after getting some medicine Saturday evening and taking good care of himself he became much better and last night at 8 o'clock when he retired, he appeared to be in his usual good health. About 10 o'clock he awakened his wife and complained of not feeling well, and in starting to arise, staggered and fell back in his bed where he died in a few minutes. Mr. Pockmire has been a resident of this city for the past nine years, having come to this city in 1878 when the car shops were built. He came this city from Fremont and was employed at the car shops for several years, after which he went into business with J. W. Crum in the pump trade. Recently he has been employed at J. R. Ashton's machine shop on East Market street. He was in his fiftieth year having been 49 years of age the fifth day of last January. He leaves a wife and child well provided for. He was a member of Mart Armstrong Post G. A. R. and also of Shawnee Commandery No. 14 K. T., which organization will take charge of his funeral. his funeral services will take place at his late residence, 522 South Main street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
