Born in Cesena, Italy, Emilio Bonci was a famous midfielder football player. Leaving a mark in the history of the Cesena Football Club, Bonci played 94 times as a midfielder in the 1946-47, '50-'51, '61-'62 seasons. He also played for three seasons with the Serie A teams of Lanerossi Vicenza and Catania. Along the years, he also played for Piombino and Crotone, where he concluded his career.

Successively, Emilio served as Vice - Coach of the '78-'79 season of A.C. Cesena and later as an observer of the named Football Club.

Bonci suffered a heart attack while walking in the Center of Cesena. He died shortly after being recovered at the Bufalini Hospital of Cesena, aged 81, on Sunday, March 21, 2009.

His funeral was held at the Cimitero Urbano of Cesena on Tuesday, March 24, at 10.30 am., followed by interment at the named Cemetery. Bonci was the younger brother of Iro Bonci (1923 - 1977), who played for Cesena, Modena, Fiorentina and various other teams, and uncle of Fabio Bonci (1949 - ), who played among others for Atalanta, Parma and Perugia. His brother was likewise a football player.
