My Papaw Waymond was a big man. I remember he liked to put peanuts in his coke. He took all us kids in the bed of his old white truck to Red Hill Lake in East TX to go swimming. He always had watermelons for us. When I was about 3 maybe 4 years old we lived in a house close to his home in Shelbyville. I ran across the pasture one day so I could sit with him on the front porch. I got stickers (grass burrs) in my feet and had to pick them out. Papaw asked me what I was doing and I replied with a lisp "pickin' dickers out of my boot". He laughed and asked me "What was your name before you got married". I said "Papaw I never been married". He came one time to Jasper to visit my Mom and brought us a pineapple. I had never seen a pineapple before. Miss that man so much....Love ya Papaw Waymond.
