Fifth child born to James Frank Queen and Sadie Tipton. Adopted by Samuel Gish in 1905 after the death of his mother.
Edward married Ruth Morgan and together they had two sons; Robert Gish and Edward Travis Gish Jr and two daughters, Betty and Bonnie.
He then married Josephine Luella Phillips in 1934 and together they had three children; Betty, Roy, and Dale. They also had one daughter, Jean, from Josephine's first marriage. Together they share their final resting place.
