JOHNSONVILLE — William Marion Thomas, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in Augusta VA Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Mr. Thomas was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Columbia, a son of William A. Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Wright Thomas. He was in the United States Marine Corps and the chief of police for the City of Johnsonville from 1970 until 1973.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Barbara Lovett Thomas of the home; three children, Donna (Sam) Howell of Johnsonville, Sheri (David) Feagin of Lake City and Ricky (Sandra) Thomas of Milton, Fla.; a granddaughter, Ann Baylor of the home; a brother, Eugene P. (Clara) Thomas of Cayce; seven beloved grandchildren; and 13 beloved great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 in the Chapel of Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. Interment will follow in Garden of Devotion Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans of America Inc., 4010 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815.
