GREAT BARRINGTON - Myrtle Ann (Foy) Nehmer Mazzaferro, 79, of Sandisfield, MA died on Thursday February 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at the Fairview Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Great Barrington. She was born in Springfield on December 25, 1932 a daughter of the late George Foy and Celina (Bell) Denesha and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce. She also received an Associate's Degree in Mental Health from Springfield Technical Community College and attended Westfield State College. Myrtle was last employed as the Registrar of Students at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA. She was a communicant of Holy Name Church in Springfield a past member of the Springfield Chapter of the Le Leche League, Parents Without Partners and a past board member of Child and Family Services. Myrtle also served as the Sandisfield Town Orator. Above all, Myrtle enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Mazzaferro on March 18, 2011; and her brothers, George and Frank Foy. Myrtle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her including her children, Robert Nehmer and his wife Donna and Anne Rideout and her husband Jerry, all of Springfield, Patricia LaLonde and her husband Robert of San Marcos, CA, Randall Nehmer of Springfield, David Nehmer and his wife Trinda of Ludlow, Theresa Baybutt and her husband Henry of Wellesley, MA, Timothy Nehmer and his wife Amanda of Southwick, Richard Nehmer of South Hadley, Lorena Kononitz and her husband William of Southwick, Thomas M. Mazzaferro and his wife Cynthia of Cheshire, CT, Robert J. Mazzaferro of Chicopee; Carl V. Mazzaferro and his wife Alina of Brimfield, Lee Ann Mazzaferro of Springfield and Mary Jo Baker of Chicopee; and her 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Myrtle also leaves her sisters in law, Grace Foy of Malone, NY and Dorothy Foy of West Hartford, CT; her former husband, Robert Nehmer of Springfield; and her many extended family members and friends. Myrtle's family will receive friends on Monday February 6, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield. Family and friends are invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Tuesday February 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, with Rites of Committal and Interment to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State Street, all in Springfield. Donations may be made in Myrtle's memory to the Alzheimer's Association , 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
