OBITUARY :
MRS. EDNA H. (HACK) PUTNAM, 91, of 804 D Wesley Drive, Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 in Quincy Village.

Born June 7, 1920 in Averill Park, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dora (Ewing) Hack.

She and her husband, the late Mr. Robert C. Putnam, were married July 29, 1944 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They lived in Berkeley Springs, WV before moving to Quincy Village in 1997. He passed away February 26, 2003.

Following her graduation from secretarial school, Mrs. Putnam was employed at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. for several years. She later served as assistant director of a day care center in Rockville, MD for six years.

She was Baptist by faith having served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher at various churches she attended throughout the years. She currently was a member of Central Baptist Chapel, Mont Alto, PA.

Mrs. Putnam was an active volunteer at Quincy Village performing many duties including working at the library.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy P. Vermillion and her husband, Chris R. of New Market, MD; her son, Steven R. Putnam and his wife, DeeAnne Attridge of Gaithersburg, MD; three grandchildren, Cheryl Garey, Susan Woods and Robert Vermillion; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister; and one brother.

Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, February 10, 2012 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with the Rev. Gerald D. Carbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Friday, in the funeral home.
