Statesman, Sixth Prime Minister of Australia. He held the position from June 24, 1913 to September 17, 1914. Before his appointment as prime minister, he was a member of the Australian Parliament. He also served as postmaster-general and minister of the navy. In 1972, he was pictured on a postage stamp issued by Australia Post and his bust is located in the Prime Ministers Avenue in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens in Victoria.
