Actor. He was fondly remembered for the role of portraying George Shumway, in the TV comedy series "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" in the 1970s and as the character as Morty Seinfeld in the first series sitcom of "Seinfeld" in 1990. He began his career in New York on the stage winning an Obie Award for his role in "Mr. Simian" (1963) and became a prolific actor in TV commercials appearing in more commercials then any other actor in 1968. He went on to appear in more than 40 feature films, including "The Out of Towners" (1970), "The Great Waldo Pepper" (1975), ''The Stunt Man" (1980), "My Favorite Year" (1982) "Flashdance" (1983) and "Love Bites" (1993). But it was on the television screen which Bruns was most widely seen, turning up in countless series including three seasons on "The Jackie Gleason Show", plus "Sanford and Son", "M*A*S*H," "Kojak," "Barney Miller," "Maude" and many more. He also wrote the autobiography book, "The Character Actor's Do's, Don't's and Anecdotes" and established the largest private school library in the Bahamas. He died of natural causes at age 80.
