Laura Alice Needham was the daughter of John M. Needham and Matilda Dodson Needham. She married Peter B. Yount on 7 September 1882 in Polk County, Missouri. They migrated to Texas where they farmed until the death of Peter in 1919. Peter and Laura were the parents of nine girls. After the death of Peter she lived with several of her daughters and eventually married Luther A.Pierce. He was a retired Judge of some kind. She resided with her eldest daughter Anna Jennettie Pearl Yount Vallance on the Vallance Farm, Plaska, Hall Co., Texas for several years. She moved to the Childress and Kirkland, Texas area about 1949. She was living with one of her daughters when she passed. I as a Great Grandson remember her well. She and Peter B. Yount are buried in a family plot in the Kirkland Cemetery, Kirkland, Childress Co., Texas.
