SOUTH RUTLAND —Mrs.
Gladys A. Hodge, 75, wife of
Fred E. Hodge, died at 3:15
this morning at the family
home.
She had suffered an apparent
heart attack, was taken
by ambulance to the House
of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The funeral will be Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at
South Rutland Community Baptist church, Rev. L.
Grenfell Gifford, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in
South Rutland cemetery.
Friends may call at the
family home Saturday afternoon
and evening.
Besides her husband, she is
survived by a son, Francis E.
Hodge, South Rutland, and
two grandchildren, Andrew
and Gail.
Mrs. Hodge was born Jan.
6, 1893, in the town of Rutland,
daughter of William and
Ella Matty Campbell. She attended
local schools, Copenhagen
High school, and was
graduated from the teacher training
class at Copenhagen.
She was married to Fred
E. Hodge, Aug 23, 1914.
Mrs Hodge was postmaster
at South Rutland from 1932
until she retired, Jan. 1, 1963.
She was a member of Copenhagen
O. E. S., South Rutland
Valley Grange 53, of
which she was pianist for several
years, treasurer of the
Ladies Aid society, and a
member of the Home demonstration
unit of South Rutland.
