Earl A. Schwabe, 90, of 4321 Lake Park Road, Ashland, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the Ashland Health Care Center.
Earl was born in Collins on June 17, 1908, the son of Edward and Ida (Prochnow) Schwabe. He graduated from Brillion High School in 1927. He married Mildred Haese on Jan. 17, 1931, in Brillion. He served as Traffic Officer for Calumet County for 11 years and Sheriff of Calumet County for four years. He was a Wisconsin State Fire Marshall for 27 years until his retirement in 1973, at which time he moved to Ashland. He was a member of the Presbyterian Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred, Ashland; one son, Keith (Judy) Schwabe, Jackson, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou (Robert) Ochsenbauer, Ashland, and Mrs. Carol (Art) Wesener, Lake Geneva; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Fredricks, Hilbert; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Private services and burial will take place in Brillion at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Vickroy residence, 1115 3rd Ave. W., Ashland.
