Daughter of Ruth Hendrix and Richard Biddlecome. Her family had moved to Hardin County, Kentucky by 1820. There she met and married Walter G. Pawley on 22 Jan 1822. They had nine known children, four of whom were born in Kentucky.

About 1830, the Pawley family moved to Vermillion County, Indiana, in a similar timeframe as her father moved and settled in adjoining Warren County.

The burial location of Walter Pawley, who also died in unknown year after the 1860 census, has not yet been ascertained. It is likely that he rests here as well.

NOTE: From the early 1800s forward, legal documents and censuses have used various spellings of Pauley, Pawley, Paully, Polly, etc. An excellent example is Louisa's interchanging name which is identified as PAWLEY in marriage and PAULEY in death. Some of her children continued the name of PAWLEY while others (like my 2nd Great-Grandfather) used PAULEY.

Some bio data was obtained from online trees (i.e., Shonna_Kracinski and leethomasoxford). Louisa's birth location may be questionable, in that the 1850 and 1860 censuses reflect Kentucky AND Vermont while online trees say Rhode Island (which to me is the more logical when based upon family timeline in censuses).

Finally, a personal Thank You to Geraldine Barnett for transferring this memorial to my care.
