Rev. Dr. Lorenzo Dow Watson was the son of James and Mary Magdalene (Nesbitt) Watson. He was the husband of Elnora (Lawrence) Watson. They were married July 7, 1869. Elnora died February 10, 1921. Rev. Watson was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: East Baltimore Conference 1859 F 1862 Located 1863 Readmitted New York East Conference 1866 Located 1870 Readmitted East Genesee Conference 1871 Central New York Conference by change of boundaries 1872 Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) Conference by transfer 1872.

WATSON.--Rev. Dr. Lorenzo D. Watson, retired Methodist Episcopal minister and ardent advocate of temperance, died on Wednesday at his home, 293 Stuyvesant Ave., Brooklyn, in his seventy-seventh year. Dr. Watson was born in Allegany Co., Maryland, and was a graduate of Dickinson College, at Carlisle, Penn.; the theological department of Boston University, Syracuse University and the Victoria University in Canada. Some of the degrees that had been conferred on him were LL.D., Ph.D., B.S.T., and S.T.D. He was a professor of Hebrew and history at Taylor University in Upland, Ind. 1905-1906. He had been Presiding Elder at Olean District, Olean, New York 1874-1877 and Bath District, Bath, New York 1883-1884. He was pastor of the Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church at Rochester, New York 1872-1873. He retired eight years ago when he went to Brooklyn. Dr. Watson is survived by his wife, Elnora Lawrence Watson, and a son, Dr. Frederick L. Watson.
