Peggy Linn Benson was born Marie E. Benson 1 Sep 1895 in Texas (probably in Houston.) She wanted to become an actress and adopted the stage name of Peggy Lynn and was known as Peggy for the rest of her life. She can be found as Marie on the 1910 census in Harris County, TX (ED107, p. 164) with her mother Mary C. Fisher & her brother, Frank. She appears again as Marie on the 1920 census in Los Angeles (ED152, page 17) with her mother, Kate (nickname for Catherine) Fisher & brother, William F. Benson. In 1930 she is with her mother, Katie Fisher and is listed as Peggy Lynne. (ED19-24, page 4-A). She listed her occupation as “actress” on the 1920 & 1930 census. Her California death certificate #7097-49167, identifies her mother as Mary Catherine Henrie and her father as Albert L. Benson, both from Texas, the information supplied by her brother, William Francis Benson. She never married and worked as a secretary for 30 years for the Los Angeles State Board of Education.
