Mildred Virginia Sipes, 98, of Patterson, looked upon the face of her glorious Savior, Jesus, Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden; and went to her heavenly home to reunite with her husband, Elmer; daughter, Dorothy Houseman; and two sons, Howard and Robert "Bobby" Sipes. She was born Aug. 4, 1913, in Barrow, the daughter of Lowellyn and Rosa Day Rutledge. She and Elmer Sipes were united in marriage on July 19, 1931. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1995.

She left behind many dear friends and precious family members including sons, Richard (Linda) Sipes of Clayton and Darryl (Carolyn) Sipes of Billings, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Gene (Rita) Rutledge of Granite City; and two sisters, Edith Stoops of the State of Maine and Mary Ellen Glancey of the State of Louisiana. In addition to her husband and three children; one brother, Vivian Ruledge; and three sisters, Ina Bell, Irene Painter and Nilah Means, preceded her in death.

In her 98 years, she worked as a nurse's assistant at the Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville and a licensed care worker at the Jacksonville Developmental Center. Loving and caring for her husband, children and grandchildren was her primary and lifelong job. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 60 years and loved her Christian family.

Services were entrusted to Mackey-Daws Funeral Home of Winchester, Illinois.
