When Lloyd Douglas Fielder was born on November 8, 1928, in Los Angeles, California, his father, John Phillip Fielder, was 41 and his mother, Nancy Ann Headrick Fielder, was 34. He had 1 brother, Harry Lyle, and two sisters, Lola Lucille and Hazel Beatrice ~
Lloyd joined the Army July 23, 1946 and was honorably discharged January 21, 1948. He was deployed to Korea for the term of his service ~ NOTE: In one of his many letters home to his parents, he mentions that he and a couple of his buddies were assigned to the tank division and that they had taken the liberty of "Souping up the engines" on the tanks ~ He also served as an MP during his time in Korea ~
Lloyd married Jean Carrol Willis (Fielder Sturdivan) in 1951 and they 3 children: daughters Valorie Jean & Nancy Suzanne and a son, George Douglas. Lloyd and Jean divorced in March of 1969. Both would remarry some time later ~
With his first wife, Jean, and very young daughter, Valorie, Lloyd and his family moved to Bisbee, Arizonia, in the mid 1950's where he worked in the copper mines for a number of years ~ Much of the family, on his mother's side, had already moved that direction ~ Their son, George, and their daughter, Nancy, were born there ~
Lloyd and his growing family moved back to the Los Angeles area when daughter, Valorie, was about 6 years old ~
Some time later, Lloyd and his son, George, became serious Formula Go-Kart racers in California and enjoyed many years on the circuit ~ Lloyd was a very talented mechanic and built his Formula carts from the ground up. He and his son won many 1st place trophies over the years ~
Lloyd remarried to Sharon Marie Clarey on November 9, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lloyd passed on December 25, 1977, in his hometown of Los Angeles, California, at the age of 49, and was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, where his parents, sisters and many other family members are also laid to rest ~
