William Robinson Bland, 69, of Springfield died Friday, March 12, 2004, at his home. He was born July 19, 1934, in Macon, Miss. He was the son of Elizabeth Bland and the stepson of Fed Bland. He married Virgina V. Jackson. A son, Eugene Jackson and a daughter, Sharon Jackson, preceded him in death. Mr. Bland retired as a sanitation worker from Lasley Disposal in 1978. Survivors: wife, Virgina; three sons, Marzine and William Marvin Robinson, both of Macon, Miss., and Lawrence (wife, Delores) Jackson of Springfield; five daughters, Deanna (husband, Kenneth) Jones, Billie (husband Andy) Whyte-Nash and Manzella (husband, Joe) Bigby, all of Springfield, Brenda (husband, Tony) Rouse of Roulette, Texas and Carolyn Craig of St. Louis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a brother, Alfonso (wife, Shirley) Bland of Springfield. Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, W.W.White Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Samuel Carter and the Rev. Tiny Walker officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.
