Jessie Frances (Lee) Moss was born 4 October 1887 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona Territory, the third of seven known children of Austin Parker Moss and Mary Catherine Ramirez (Lee) Moss.

Although their marriage record has not been found, from Census records, it appears Jessie and Roland Toevs were married at least 63 years at the time of her death in 1984. No record is found for children born to their marriage.

Jessie’s siblings are:

1) Rose Lee Moss, aka Rosa or Rosemary, born 18 Apr 1883 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona Territory, died 24 Oct 1969 in South Pasadena, California. Rose was married in 1903 to Pablo Sotelo Romero (1874-1945), with whom she bore five sons: Arthur, Arnold, Louis, Fredrick, and Patrick.

Subsequent marriages were to Orvis Farmer (1883-1949) and Carlos “Charles” Tully (1881-1969).

2) Charles Patrick Moss, born 18 Aug 1885 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona Territory, died 31 Jul 1927 in Oracle, Pinal County, Arizona. Charles was married to Anna May Lopez Dailey who was born in Jul 1892 and died 12 Mar 1927 at age 34.

Upon Charles’ death some four months after his wife’s, their seven children lived with various relatives. Their names: Mary Carmen Dailey Moss, Vivian Ora Moss, Charles P. Moss Jr., Rebecca Mae Moss, Stanley Antonio Moss, Austin W. Moss, and John W. Moss.

Charles Jr., born 29 Jul 1919, lived with his paternal Aunt Jessie and her husband, Roland, in the Los Angeles area until graduating from high school in 1937. (Note: Some family records give his name as Charles Quinten Dailey Moss, born 27 Jul 1919.)
