Daughter of Allen E. Barr b. August 28, 1811 and Jane Palace Campbell b. May 3, 1820.

Married J. A. Quitman Palmer on September 9, 1869 in Mississippi. The couple had 11 children: Walter Sprague, Thomas Cole, Sion Eugene "Gene", Eulela "Lela" Jane, Jefferson Allen, Robert Ira, George Luther, Blanche Julia, Ora Stone, Auby Ershail, and Vickie Belle.

Betty and Quitman Palmer moved from Mississippi to Bell County, Texas soon after they married and to Mills County, Texas in 1878. Attracted by the opening of new land in Oklahoma Territory the family settled at Elmer, Oklahoma in 1900.

Betty Palmer moved from Elmer, Oklahoma to Memphis, Texas in 1915 where she lived until 1941. After that time she lived with her daughters in Pampa, Texas, Amarillo, Texas, Dallas, Texas, and White Deer, Texas.

Two weeks before her 100th birthday a tornado destroyed her home in White Deer, Texas. She miraculously survived with only a cut on her arm and was able to attend a large birthday celebration at the home of her great grandson.
