April 30, 1920 - April 15, 2011
Lorine McClanahan, 90, a resident of Royalton Manor, formerly of Watervliet, passed away peacefully late Friday, April 15, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St Joseph.

Burial will be in Watervliet Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lorine may be made to the Activities Department at Royalton Manor, where she truly enjoyed all the activities made available to her during her stay there.

Lorine was born April 30, 1920 in Russellville, Alabama to Lonnie and Sara (Warhurst) Pounders. She married David Nelson McClanahan on March 30, 1938.

Survivors include one son Larry (MaryJo) McClanahan of Watervliet, grandchildren, Tina (Tim) Hauch, Susie (Scott) Burkhardt of Benton Harbor, David, Ricky, Michelle and Denise McClanahan of Phoenix, Arizona, great grandchildren Christopher (Ashley) Hauch, Allison (Cole) Andrews, Eric Hauch, and Derrick and Sydney Burkhardt. Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Murphy of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Maggie Williams of Benton Harbor.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother William Pounders, a sister Odel Mollett and a son Richard McClanahan.

Lorine spent her early years as a homemaker raising and caring for her family. Due to health reasons, she spent much of her time later at home. But she always enjoyed visits from the family and always greeted everyone with a smile. She also loved getting out to join in on family get togethers. She was always a fighter, surviving numerous medical afflictions when all odds were against her. She will always be remembered as one who took life as it came and moved on without hesitation. Her will and strength is an inspiration to us all.
