Lillian graduated from Bonham High School in 1936. She obtained employment at the Blackstone Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. After the hotel changed hands several times, she worked at the Whitley Drugstore on Hemphill Street, where she subsequently met and married Charles Gilbert Torti in September of 1950. She and Charles opened Bargain House Furniture on Vickery Street in Fort Worth in 1952. Lillian took special pride in her rich heritage and maintained close relations with her many relatives on both sides of her family, often corresponding and traveling to visit them. She also maintained a lifelong love of gardening and always took pride in her ability to cultivate flowers. She lived with her husband and fulfilled her desire to remain independent until the very end when a brief illness took her life.
She is preceded in death by parents, and brother Henry Luther Wehrmann, and is survived by her husband Charles G. Torti; son Russell G. Torti and wife Sonya; step-children Charles W. Torti and Sandra Jo Torti; grandchildren Frederick R. Torti and Alexa R. Torti; cousins David Wehrmann and James Wehrmann; German cousins Frederick Wehrmann and wife Erna, Frieda Kolthoff, Luise Goeker, Anna Goeker, Elfriede Wittler; and a host of other relatives with whom she kept in contact with over the years. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 16, 2012, at Brown's Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Irving. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
