Mrs. Dorothy Snow Buse

Dorothy Snow Buse, 97, of Ginger Cove and formerly of Severna Park, died March 7 at the Ginger Cove Health Center.

She was born in Baltimore and graduated from Eastern High School and the Union Memorial School of Nursing in that city. Married to Lt. Henry W. Buse, Jr. ("Bill") at the Naval Academy Chapel in 1936, she embarked upon an active life as the wife of a Marine Corps officer. Together the Buses moved frequently and traveled widely with the Marine Corps and later, with the US Olympic Committee. Intermittently throughout the years, Dorothy worked in retail and as a volunteer for the Navy Relief Society and the Red Cross. She was a devoted wife and mother and talented hostess. She maintained many widespread friendships for years through her prolific card and letter writing. She was an avid sports fan and attended myriad athletic events for many years with her husband, particularly at the Naval Academy and on Marine bases.

Preceded in death by her husband, Dorothy is survived by two children, Henry W. Buse III, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and Barbara Johnson, of Bowie. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Wendy Eckert of Seattle, Washington and Sandra Dininger, of Orlando, Florida, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 2:00, at Ginger Cove. Interment at the US Naval Academy will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 1001 N. Street, SE, Suite 100, Washington, D.C. 20374.
