Music Composer. Born at Rockland, Massachusetts, in 1856, she was a stage actress also known as Effie Crockett, whom set melody lines to the old Mother Goose rhymes. In 1872, while babysitting, she wrote and composed the song "Rock a Bye Baby". Her song is credited in over a 100 films, many made decades after her death. She died in Boston, on January 7, 1940.
