Ruth Alice Johns, 84, of Plain City, passed away peacefully Friday, March 9, 2012, at her residence.

Born June 10, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio.

Retired from Ranco Controls of Plain City with over 25 years of service.

Inducted into the Muskingum County Music Hall of Fame as part of the original "Embree Trio" and a member of the Plain City VFW Post No. 3268 Auxiliary, also an avid bowler at the Plain City Lanes who loved to participate in local and out of town tournaments with her husband and other couples.

Preceded in death by parents, William and Ruth (Hale) Embree; husband of 56 years, Orrel R. "Oats" Johns in 2007; sisters, Bonnie Embree, Mary Blackwood and Margaret "Peggy" Aggas; brother, Bob Embree.

Survived by loving children, Jeff (Denise) Johns of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Tad (Brenda) Johns of Mt. Vernon and Terri (Bruce) Moder of Milford Center; eight grandchildren, Tristan Johns, Rusty (Amy) Johns, Tabitha (Steve) Paas, Wendy Johns, Nikki Smith, Brian Mulkey, Benjamin Moder and Bethany (Dusty) McKenzie; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Kay) Embree, David Embree and Daniel Embree.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 12, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St. (state Route 161 W.), Plain City. Graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Forest Grove Cemetery, Plain City. Pastor Don Hilkerbaumer will be officiating
